Me time

After the thyroiditis episode, i learnt to take a step back and breathe. This meant taking a day's leave and taking a walk on my own. I decided to go to Gardens by the Bay followed by the Doraemon exhibition at the National Museum of Singapore. Both admissions were free!  I left the house as usual, didn't inform anyone regarding my me time as I just want to spend some time by myself. I took a train to Bayfront station; there was a short walk between the train station and  Gardens by the Bay. I arrived quite early and had my breakfast with my bunnies (i used to bring them out together with me last time but not anymore, and had decided to bring them there for company).  After which i continued with my walk. The garden was quiet and peaceful in the morning. Something i need to take my mind off. There were fountains, ponds and reservoirs and a giant baby statue that reminded me of Kimchimon. After the walk at Gardens by the Bay, i proceeded...

Thyroiditis

Remember that I mentioned in my "juggling life" post that this stress had caused some medical condition? This post will be about my recovery from thyroiditis.  It started from my 10 days of medical leave. From the minor cough to the fever that refuses to go away and neck pain. I went to the General Practitioner (GP) and got a referral letter to the specialist. I couldn't make a choice then so he referred me to the specialist from the nearest public hospital and also a private specialist.  I tried to make an appointment to the public hospital, but the earliest appointment they gave was at the end of 2020. I couldn't wait that long! So I made an appointment to the private specialist at Farrer Park Hospital and secured one in the beginning of October 2020.  I registered myself at the entrance of the hospital and subsequently at the clinic. I was then directed to do a blood test before seeing the doctor. We had a chat and agreed with the treatment regimen. The doctor pres...

Play time at Smigy's

Last Saturday, Kimchimon had a play date with Matthias at Smigy's. Smigy's located at PLQ Mall level 3, Paya Lebar. We took a train from Buangkok to Serangoon then to Paya Lebar, PLQ Mall was just next to the the train station. we then took the escalator up to level 3.  Payment will need to be made upon arrival and we were advised to make a reservation first. (Kids under 1 year old enter for free and kids above 1 need to pay $18 for 2 hours of play time.) With Bykido app, you will get 50% off on weekdays for 3 play sessions. As usual, we did a safe entry check in and sanitized our hands before entering.  Do note that socks were required in order to enter. Smigy's were quite crowded when we arrived, since it was a weekend. I brought Kimchimon to the ball pit and went down a slide with him. He didn't like the slide. But when I brought him to the slide again, he came to like it. He really like the ball pit 🤣🤣🤣. There's a lot of balls for him to throw.  There's 2...

Wedding anniversary and cheesecake

28th September marks the 4th year that my husband and I got married. Happy anniversary! Thank you for all the love and care for me and Kimchimon. 😘 As the husband likes cheesecake, so I made some oreo cheesecake for this occasion. Turns out Kimchimon likes it too. Checkout the recipe for the oreo cheesecake below.

Kimchimon's play date at the indoor playground

On 15 August, I brought Kimchimon to the indoor playground, Waka Waka together with my friend, Feng Ling and her son, Matthias. Matthias and Kimchimon are of the same age. So we thought it would be a good idea for them to have a play date together. Waka Waka is located at the Annex@Furama,   407 Havelock Rd, #05-01, Singapore 169634. We took a train from Buangkok station to Chinatown and changed to bus 51.  We were required to book a time slot in advance. Each time slot is 2 hours. We were also required to purchase a ticket that allows 1 adult and 1 child to enter. I selected this playground as sanitization will be carried out after every session. This also means that each play time will end 15 minutes earlier for sanitization. Upon reaching, we checked in using the Safe Entry and have our temperature taken. Then we proceeded to the counter to fill up our particulars. When we entered the toddler play area, Kimchimon didn't have the reaction that I expected. Hahah. This wa...

Almond butter pancakes for Kimchimon

As Kimchimon grows older, I wanna get abit creative for his meals so he won't be eating porridge for every meal. When I first tried almond butter, I fell in love with it. So I thought why not make some almond butter pancakes for him? I used Betty Crocker pancake mix for this and it turns out really good and Kimchimon loved it. Here's the recipe below.  Did you make this pancake too? Let me know what you think of the taste.

Vaccinations

The Kimchimon turned 18 months! This means it marked the end of his baby vaccinations. When he got his last jab, he didn't even cry. Good job my baby, thank you for tolerating the needles and the awful fever medications for the past 18 months. You will be free of vaccinations (well, for now).  When Kimchimon was born he already had his first jab for BCG. It was then followed by a series of other injections when he reach 3 months old and so on. We followed through the schedule for all the required vaccinations as I think the vaccinations are important and shouldn't be forgotten (you can find the list of required vaccinations as well as the schedule in your baby's health booklet).  I know that some people actually don't trust the vaccines either not believing that they are safe or not believing that they actually work. To me, I think vaccines are important for babies as they sort of help their bodies to build up immune system. (If you are curious on how vaccines work, cli...
